So why not take the time to review your pension plans?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #bda762;\">Know how much you\u2019ll need<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The latest calculations from the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association suggest that a one-person household requires \u00a343,900 per year for a comfortable living standard in retirement, \u00a331,700 for a moderate standard, and \u00a313,400 for a minimum standard.<\/p>\n<p>A two-person household needs \u00a360,600 a year for a comfortable living standard, \u00a343,900 for a moderate standard and \u00a321,600 for a minimum standard.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #bda762;\"><strong>Think how you\u2019re going to build that pot<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Your retirement pension pot can be made up of several different elements. It could include a state pension, private or workplace pensions, savings, investments and perhaps even an inheritance, if you\u2019re lucky.<\/p>\n<p>Which of these applies to you?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"color: #bda762;\"><strong>Check your State Pension entitlement<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/check-state-pension\">State Pension forecast tool<\/a> can tell you when you\u2019ll be entitled to receive your State Pension and how much it currently is.<\/p>\n<p>This tool can also tell you if your National Insurance contributions are on track to entitle you to the State Pension.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #bda762;\"><strong>Check your private or workplace pensions<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Do you have private pensions or workplace pension plans through your current or previous jobs?<\/p>\n<p>If so, it\u2019s sensible to review them at least once a year.<\/p>\n<p>Collect your annual pension statements together. Look at how much they\u2019re forecast to pay out when you retire.<\/p>\n<p>Should you move your pension plans to another provider, where the plan allows it? Or should you draw down some cash from them? (Whether you can do this or not depends on your age and type of pension.)<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t currently have a private or workplace pension, should you consider starting one?<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #bda762;\"><strong>Trace any lost pensions<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>If you\u2019ve had several jobs over the years, you may have several pension plans and may have forgotten about some.<\/p>\n<p>The official Government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/find-pension-contact-details\">Pension Tracing Service<\/a> may be able to help you find them.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #bda762;\"><strong>Take action now<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Lastly, decide what action you need to take now to ensure you have an adequate pension in the future.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s never too soon or too late to plan for the future.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #618899;\"><strong>We hope you\u2019ve found these thoughts useful.
