If you\u2019re thinking about moving house in 2024, there\u2019s a lot to mull over, especially if you have children to consider.<\/span><\/h3>\n

We know how important (and valuable) it is to listen to your kids when you\u2019re selling up and moving on \u2013 they always have lots of thoughts and feelings about it.<\/p>\n

We spoke with a six-year-old, Olivia, about her family\u2019s recent move.<\/p>\n

Her insights are fascinating and help us see things from a kid\u2019s point of view.<\/p>\n

New friends<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cI was a bit sad to leave my friend next door. But guess what? There\u2019s a girl next door at the new house, too. That made me excited!\u201d<\/p>\n

A bigger space<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cI thought our new house would be bigger, and I was right! There\u2019s more room for my toys.\u201d<\/p>\n

My own room<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cI got my own room in the new house! No more listening to my big sister\u2019s snoring all night.\u201d<\/p>\n

Packing adventures<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cWe had to put all our things in boxes. It was a lot of work and sometimes confusing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Room size wonders<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cI kept wondering just how big my new room would be.\u201d<\/p>\n

First thoughts<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cWhen I saw our new house, I thought, \u2018Very nice but a bit old.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Kitchen fun<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a breakfast bar in the kitchen. I can eat my cereal there!\u201d<\/p>\n

The moving process<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cMoving is easy-peasy. You pack, get in the car, drive to your new house, and look around.\u201d<\/p>\n

First night fun<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cWe slept on a mattress on the floor the first night. It was like camping!\u201d<\/p>\n

Mixed feelings<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

\u201cI felt happy, excited, sad and glad all at once. It\u2019s a bit strange but mostly good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reflections and advice from a six-year-old mover<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

When we asked our young helper for advice for other kids about moving house, Olivia said, \u201cIf you\u2019re sad about moving, it\u2019s OK! You can make new friends. And packing can be fun. It\u2019s like a big adventure, plus you can ask for sweets without the grown-ups complaining.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, if you\u2019re considering a family move, remember to involve your little ones.<\/p>\n
