Young Voices-the largest school choir concerts in the world!

“As a school we recognise the impact the past few years of restrictions and isolation has had on, not only the opportunities for our students, but also the children’s wellbeing.”

Over the past few years, the uncertainty around covid meant we had to hit the pause button on joining up to Young Voices. Therefore, as things started to settle, we jumped at the chance to see if we could finally take some of our students. However, with the current financial climate and cost of living crisis, we realised we were not going to be able to find spare funds to accommodate the trip.

This is where Crane and Co stepped in and not only provided the funds to be able to take our school choir of 32 7–11-year-olds, but incredibly also our whole ‘Year 5’ year group. Totalling 81 students.

Participating in Young Voices has not only meant an exciting, fun filled day out at one of the biggest arenas in the country, but also having our children experience the comradery of working together, having a common goal to work towards and having a lot of fun in the process which is what it’s all about.

They are also learning new skills, singing, putting actions to the music, and performing, which sadly has not been possible over previous years due to the pandemic.

Performing, for some of the children is very new and very much out of their comfort zone, but due to their determination and positive attitudes the children are working together and giving it their all.

The children have been practicing for a few weeks now, a few times a week. A lot of them have also been practicing hard at home. We have had many parents tell us that the songs are always put on repeat at home or in the car and that there is a real buzz about it all.

The parents of our children have been incredibly supportive and some of which have bought tickets to the O2 arena to watch and support the children and the school.

From Our Head Teacher

We have had overwhelming support from our children and our parents. Multiple rehearsals over the past few weeks have been keeping everyone busy and the singing sounds truly wonderful. It is set to be a magical day that hopefully they will remember for many years to come.”

Shout out to Lila, Lottie and Annabelle from the choir!

The girls have been carol singing around their local neighbourhood to spread some Christmas cheer and in the process were unexpectedly given some money that they have decided to donate to ‘Children with cancer fund’. They sang beautifully and I’m extremely proud of them, as I’m sure the rest of the choir will be too!

Well done for showing such kindness to others, which is also one of our most important school values. Great job, girls!

I am truly delighted that my company, Crane & Co Estate Agents, will be supporting Pevensey and Westham School Choir. Young Voices festival promises to be a wonderful event for the school, the choir members, the teaching staff and, of course, the parents too.

I remember many wonderful occasions watching my own daughters perform in their school choir at various events and have memories from those days that will stay with me forever.

Being a member of a school choir is such a lovely opportunity for students and the team here are enjoying making a video about the choir from rehearsals, to the festival and home – I hope a lovely keepsake for you.
